The Rothsay Development Action Campaign

Latest

The Rothsay Development Action Campaign serves as an information and awareness service to the proposed development of the former hotel site.

The planning that has been APPROVED by TVBC is for a ‘Residential Nursing Home (60 bed)’. The company concerned, Barchester Healthcare, that has many residential nursing units in the UK, has been helpful and communicative during the planning process, whilst exhibiting a sensitive attitude to that of patient need, as they responded to all questions and concerns raised by objectors and the appropriate planning departments of both Hampshire County Council and Test Valley Borough Council.

A number of issues were clarified satisfactorily, and incorporated in the approved permission. The former committee of RoDAC intends to maintain a line of communication with the applicants and developers, throughout the development and initial use of the site.

On this note, RoDAC would like to thank the Parish Councils and Councillors of the TVBC planning committee for listening to all the objections, and for their wisdom and guidance in approving a satisfactory development for the Rothsay site. There is no doubt, that provided the development goes ahead as planned, the new building will provide a valuable and needed facility, as well as, a building that will suitably adorn the nature of its environ. The Rothsay Development Action Committee (RoDAC) would like to congratulate and thank all members of the public who expressed their concerns and took the time to write to TVBC with their letters of objection and/or concern relating to the proposed development of the former Rothsay Hotel site.

Covenant Healthcare have now re-submitted an application TVN06/01548/FULLN for a Psychiatric Unit on the former Rothsay Hotel site.  This follows a previous application by Covenant Healthcare in Febuary 2005, which was withdrawn in April 2005 following significant public objection. The current application can be viewed at www.TestValley.gov.uk .

A meeting for Press and Public has been called to discuss the issues as Penton Mewsey Village Hall on Monday 10th July 2006 at 7.30pm.

Recently Planning Application TVN06/01548/FULLN, a full and new application for a Psychiatric Secure Unit has been applied for on behalf of Covenant Healthcare. This implies that a Psychiatric unit with a security status would be the intention. Follow information links for more details.
